Athena Productions 2024: A Year in Review
As 2024 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year at Athena Productions. From contributing to Helldivers 2 to launching our refreshed website and sharing insights at events.
We're immensely proud of our team who continue to deliver stunning concept art that combines storytelling and design for our clients in the video game, film, TV, and advertising industries.
Here’s a look back at everything we’ve accomplished together this year!
Thanking Our Clients
The year began with the exciting announcement of our contributions to Helldivers 2, where we provided concept art for the cinematic trailer, including the designs for Super Earth and key action moments. We were thrilled that Helldivers 2 won two categories at the 2024 Game of the Year awards, including Best Ongoing Game and Best Multiplayer Game.
Congratulations to Arrowhead Games on this incredible achievement. For Super Earth!

This year, we also had the privilege of contributing lessons to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine for Fortnite course, available on ArtStation Learning. Drawing from our expertise in Unreal Engine 5, we showcased how concept art can be developed directly in-engine for faster collaboration and iteration - a useful skill for a team to have especially for indie and AA game projects.

This year, our relationships with both new and existing clients continued to thrive.
Across all our collaborations, we’ve focused on consistently exceeding client expectations in quality, design and communication. Here’s some feedback that made us especially proud this year:
“Working with Athena was a true pleasure. Their team of artists were true professionals, delivering high quality work with expediency and creativity. Communication and feedback was always prompt and well received. We had weekly syncs that encouraged a good working relationship, and they were always well attended. Would not hesitate to work with them again, and they have my highest recommendation.”
– Richard, Lead Concept Artist, Ubisoft
"Collaborating with the team at Athena is every filmmakers dream, because I felt like I was working with people that understood cinema and storytelling so well. Not only are they firstly super nice people, but they really go out of their way to accommodate you, ensuring the vision is translated to the concepts exactly as imagined, and oftentimes just from the script and my scrappy director’s thumbnails! I cannot wait to collaborate with the team at Athena again!”
– HaZ Dulull, Director/Producer, HaZimation
To all our incredible clients: thank you for trusting us to bring your visions to life. We’re excited to see what 2025 holds!
Our New Look
This year, we launched a refreshed website and updated branding to better showcase our growing studio and portfolio.
A highlight of the redesign is our new blog, where we share insights, tips, and walkthroughs. In 2024, we published 20 blog posts, including 'Creating Fantasy Environment Concept Art: Tips & Tricks', and 'What is a Game Art Outsourcing Studio?'.
We’re also working on some exciting secret projects that are being released in January 2025. Here’s a sneak peek from our studio’s recording room.

Events
Concept 101
This year marked our second time attending Concept 101, held in London at the iconic Leake Street Arches. Alongside hosting our first-ever portfolio review session at the event, our Creative Director, Ellie Cooper, took part in a panel called ‘Hiring Yourself’, which discussed the transition from being a concept artist to running an outsourcing company.
The event highlighted the importance of fostering community among artists and showed the resilience and passion within the gaming and film industries despite the hardships of the year.
We want to say thank-you to everyone who attended the panel, spoke with our team, or booked portfolio reviews. We’re already looking forward to returning in 2025!
The Provocation Sessions
Ellie Cooper also spoke at The Provocation Sessions in Milton Keynes, addressing the 'Impact of AI on the Creative Industry'.
On the panel were marketing leaders from companies such as Wilken Hospice and Network Rail, and the talk explored how AI affects not just creators but also consumers, and how it shapes buying decisions and can contribute to brand trust being lost. The discussion also touched on the creative community's concerns about the evolving role of AI.
It was a great night to see how AI is effecting wider industries beyond gaming and Film/TV.
Looking To 2025
We’re gearing up for another exciting year of client projects, resources, and collaborations. From inspiring client projects, to new content and community events, 2025 promises to be our most creative year yet!
To our incredible clients, dedicated team and supporters: thank you for making 2024 a standout year. We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year—see you in 2025!
